BIOGRAPHY

Christiana is known for her versatility as freelance dancer, performer, choreographer and coach currently based in London, England. Christiana trained with Sydney Dance Company pre-professional program (2021) after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance with distinction, minoring in nutrition and health science, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), 2020. As an emerging choreographer, Christiana feels compelled to continue deepening her movement language, influenced by strong contemporary and classical ballet technique with a commercial dance background. As a pilates instructor, strength and conditioning and somatic practices (matwork and reformer pilates and yoga) as well as acrobatics are fused in her physicality. Christiana’s mission is to create art that challenges conventional styles, in the medium of live performative work and digitally.

 

Christiana's performance highlights include Resolution Festival ’24 held at The Place London, B12 Festival at Dock 11 Berlin, in collaboration with Christina Mertzani, Brisbane Festival ‘Dionysus Redux’, in collaboration with Josh Thompson and Legs on the Wall and visual artist Michael Zavros. In addition she has danced in, ’Return to Earth’ directed by Elise May in collaboration Circa Zoo, The Farm and renowned touring artwork GAIA by UK artist Luke Jerram, and in ‘Pile of Bones’ choreographed by Stephanie Lake with Marlo Benjamin. Christiana has worked closely with Australian companies, The Farm for their newest work ‘Stunt Double’ and ‘Bare Bones’ and Phluxus 2 Dance Collective for IndepenDANCE, with Nerida Matthaei. Seconding with Dancenorth Australia, Australasian Dance Collective and Sydney Dance Company,  Christiana was also apart of the Youth Ensemble Program pilot program directed by Riannon Mclean. In the last 2 years of her undergraduate degree which was selected to perform at Brisbane Contemporary Dance Prix 2019.

In the commercial entertainment space, Christiana has performed  for crowds up to 35,000 at The Gabba Stadium, Brisbane for Brisbane Heat season, Queensland Firebirds Netball Move Crew and the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremonies choreographed by Artistic Director Kyle Page, performed aside well-known music artists Delta Goodrum and Ruel. Christiana has been featured as a performer in artist music videos for Jessica O’Donoghue’s ‘Rise Up’, Bianca Power’s 'Late Sun Dance’, and recently in 2024, Amy Nola’s ‘Lost Souls’.

Building a flourishing International reputation,  Christiana has taken part at B12 Festival Berlin, Germany; Gagalab at Orsolina28 Art Foundation, Italy, One Body, One Career (OBOC) Counter technique Intensive, Amsterdam, Holland; ImplusTanz Festival, Vienna, Austria; Tanz Im August, Berlin, Germany. and Rambert Dance Company Autumn Intensive, London, England. Collaborating with industry pivoting choreographers, directors and artists, Ohad Naharin, Damien Jalet, Amilios Arapoglou, Wim Vandekeybus, Benoit Swan Pouffer Jose Agudo, Ian Robinson, Rachael Osborne, Peter Jasko, Jake Kodish, Blake John Wood to name a few. Since moving to England in 2023, Christiana has made notable relationships with peers at community based events including Rambert Dance Company “The Playground’, The Trinity Laban Sessions and Creative Rework professional development supported by The Lord Mayor of London.

 

In addition to her performance career as dancer, Christiana is honoured to be able to have a consistent clientele of people across Australia and England who are passionately moving with her every week.
